Job Description

PART A: The ONE MANDATORY REQUIREMENT:

 

Senior Level 

You must be a Senior System Administrator with documented employment experience of 5-7 years (60-84 months).

PART B: Requested Desirable Qualifications: The numbered qualifications below are not mandatory, but candidates should meet or exceed in duration and skill set target asked for, at least 4 of numbers 1 through 8. 

1. 72 months of experience working with p series hardware and the AIX operating system, including management of logical partitions, VIOS servers, and volume groups. This would include troubleshooting problems and starting support cases with IBM, creation of VIOS servers and lpars, upgrading the operating system using alt_disk_copy, and managing profiles to change CPU/Memory configurations. 

2. 60 months experience using an HMC and NIM to manage logical partitions. This would include setting up a multiple HMC environment for monitoring servers and to call home server events, modifying lpar profiles to add private network connectivity for NIM, and setting up a NIM server to be used for patching lpars and upgrading the operating system.

3. 60 months experience programming korn shell scripts and perl scripts. Scripts will be used to create monitoring reports. Information is pulled from them to alert staff of performance issues and potential problems, i.e. running low on disk space, paging space, or poor system performance.

4. 60 months experience using Logical Host Ethernet Adapters (LHEA) in lpar creation. Experience working with VIOS servers set up in either a SEA or a NPIV configuration.

5. 60 months experience working with the Linux operating system, including installing, patching, monitoring, debugging, and fixing the operating system.

6. 60 months experience setting up and managing a high-availability server environment. This would include identifying and eliminating a potential single point of failure in existing configurations. Experience with dynamic lpars and their administration. Experience modifying profiles/system configurations to make existing lpars dynamic.

7. 60 months experience setting up and maintaining GPFS. This would include upgrading GPFS, experience with performance monitoring GPFS filesystems and underlying disk management through GPFS commands. Experience accessing GPFS filesystems from multiple GPFS clusters.

8. 60 months experience using mksysb and backupios to create bare metal backups. This would include using these backups to clone lpars or VIOS servers. Also, experience using these backups to restore operating system files that have become corrupted or identified as missing.
