Job Summary

Are you looking for a fun, energetic summer job where you can make a real impact? St. Peters Parks and Recreation is hiring Camp Counselors for the upcoming summer camp season! This position is ideal for high school and college students who enjoy working with kids, being outdoors, and creating memorable experiences in a positive, team-oriented environment.

Camp Counselors play a key role in providing a safe, engaging, and inclusive atmosphere for campers while leading daily activities, building connections, and serving as positive role models throughout the summer.

Camp Dates: June 3 - August 9 Hiring Deadline: Must be hired by May 15 to attend required camp trainings

Normal Shifts:

  • Before Care: 6:45 AM - 9:00 AM
  • Main Camp: 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • After Care: 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe, clean, and organized camp environment
  • Supervise campers and assist with both indoor and outdoor activities
  • Plan and lead games, sports, arts and crafts, and group activities
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures
  • Maintain open and positive communication with campers and fellow staff
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating respect, responsibility, and enthusiasm
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and administer first aid when necessary

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker
  • Ability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to successfully complete a lifeguard certification course if assigned to aquatics

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior childcare or camp experience preferred, but not required
  • Ability to plan and organize engaging activities
  • Physical ability to participate in camp activities and adapt to various situations
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

Special Opportunity - Inclusion Counselors: Inclusion Counselors support campers with special needs and receive a $1.50 per hour shift premium for hours worked in Inclusion Support.
