Job description

The Goodman Group is seeking a full-time, experienced, and motivated Tax Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong public accounting experience, excellent technical tax knowledge, and significant experience preparing and reviewing multistate individual and business tax returns.


Position Responsibilities


  • Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, and corporations.
  • Prepare and review multistate tax returns, including state apportionment and allocation calculations.
  • Research and resolve complex federal and state tax issues.
  • Assist clients with tax planning and provide practical tax guidance.
  • Review tax work prepared by other staff members for accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding tax questions and information requests.
  • Monitor tax deadlines and ensure returns are completed and filed timely.
  • Assist with tax notices, audits, and other state and federal tax matters.
  • Stay current with changes in federal and state tax laws and regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with partners and other members of the tax team.


Qualifications


  • 10+ years of tax accounting/public accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong experience with multistate individual and business tax returns.
  • Experience with Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S, and 1120.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state income tax laws.
  • Experience with state nexus, apportionment, and residency issues.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a team player.
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
