Food Service Associate

The Food Service Associate will provide daily food preparation, package and organize meals. Successful candidates will be detail oriented, organized, able to work in a fast-paced environment and have excellent time management skills. This position is classified as non-exempt with no benefits. The Jewish Community Center is an EOE (equal opportunity employer).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Prepares and packages food according to directions given by the Food Services Director.

· Assists with food preparation, operating food production equipment as required to complete tasks.

· Maintains, cleans, and sanitizes workstations and overall end-of-day clean up.

· Follows all safety and sanitation guidelines and regulations to ensure quality food service.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

· Prolonged periods of standing and walking.

· Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the kitchen.

· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

· May be required to work in above normal heat and cold temperatures while in the kitchen environment.

EDUCATION /EXPERIENCE:

· High school diploma required.

· Ability to read and follow instructions.

· Good verbal communication skills.

· Ability to operate cooking and food preparation equipment.

· Understanding of proper food handling and sanitation procedures.

The successful candidate will be a team player as part of the JCC Professional Staff. He/she is expected to be aware of the JCC Mission Statement and work within the frameworks of that mission. Responsibilities of the job may be changed as the needs of the JCC and/or community change.
