Paralegal

One of Michigan’s premier boutique litigation law firms has an immediate opening for an experienced Paralegal to join their team in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience supporting attorneys in connection with plaintiff-side civil rights and employment law matters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support attorneys through all phases of litigation, including trials and appeals.
• Conduct legal research using Westlaw.
• Draft pleadings, motions and appellate documents and file them with the court.
• E-file pleadings in state and federal courts.
• Effectuate service of process in accordance with relevant Court Rules.
• Manage legal documentation and correspondence in strict confidence.
• Manage attorneys’ calendars and dockets to ensure deadlines are met.
• Assist attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests.
• Summarize documents and records.
• Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics, etc.).
• Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes.
• Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of prior experience as a Paralegal. Prior experience with plaintiff-side litigation involving civil rights and employment claims is preferred!
• Paralegal certification from an accredited institution is preferred, but not required.
• Must have prior experience e-filing pleadings in state and federal courts.
• Applicable knowledge of relevant Michigan Court Rules, motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices, etc.
• Strong proficiency with MS Office.
• Working knowledge of Westlaw and PracticePanther.
• Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail.
• Works well independently and on a team
