PART-TIME MEMBER MANAGER

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

The Los Angeles Coalition of Service Providers exists to preserve and enhance the continuum of high-quality, critical services for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). A project of Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs, our membership includes executive leadership of nonprofit service providers throughout Southern California. Through advocacy, leadership roundtables, networking events, and knowledge sharing we promote organized service delivery, support service providers' delivery model, and advocate for the collective creation of a safety net for people with I/DD.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Los Angeles Coalition of Service Providers, a membership association of nonprofits, is seeking a part-time Member Manager to support its operations. This position will primarily focus on member communication, meeting coordination, dues management, advocacy content distribution, event organization, limited representation in the community, overseeing website development, and establishing various digital platforms. The ideal candidate is highly organized, has excellent communication skills, and is passionate about preserving and enhancing the continuum of high-quality, critical services for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in Los Angeles.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Member Communication

  • Regularly communicate with members through various channels (email, newsletters, social media) to provide updates, share relevant information, and foster engagement.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to member inquiries, providing assistance or directing them to the appropriate resources.

Meeting Coordination

  • Schedule and coordinate regular meetings, including member meetings, board meetings, and committee meetings.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, send out meeting invitations, and collect RSVPs.
  • Take detailed meeting minutes, synthesize notes, and distribute them to attendees in a timely manner.

Membership Dues Management

  • Facilitate the collection of membership dues from members.
  • Maintain accurate records of membership dues payments and membership status.
  • Follow up with members regarding overdue dues and ensure timely resolution.

Advocacy

  • Set up and coordinate meetings with elected officials including scheduling, organizing, and developing relationships with office staff and schedulers.
  • Collect relevant advocacy content from various sources, including members, partner organizations, and industry publications.
  • Disseminate advocacy content to members, ensuring it reaches the appropriate audience through the association's communication channels.
  • Maintain a centralized repository of advocacy resources and update it regularly.

Event Organization

  • Organize and produce coalition events, such as in-person meetings, conferences, workshops, and networking sessions.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including venue booking, catering, audio-visual equipment, and guest speakers.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure successful event execution.

Website Development and Digital Platforms

  • Ensure the development and maintenance of the association's website, ensuring it provides relevant information and resources to members and the public.
  • Establish and manage digital platforms, such as Zoom for virtual meetings, Mailchimp for email campaigns, CRM databases for member management, Dropbox for file sharing, and other subscriptions as needed.
  • Ensure proper integration and functionality of these platforms, providing technical support to members and troubleshooting any issues that arise.

Collaboration with Fiscal Agent

  • Work closely with the fiscal agent of the association, providing necessary information and documentation as required.
  • Assist in financial activities, such as budgeting, expense tracking, and financial reporting.

Community Representation

  • Represent the Los Angeles Coalition of Service Providers in the community at relevant meetings, events, and conferences.
  • Foster relationships with external stakeholders, including government officials, community organizations, and partner agencies, to advance the association's mission of preserving and enhancing the continuum of high-quality, critical services for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in Los Angeles.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using communication tools and platforms, such as email marketing software, social media platforms, and online collaboration tools.
  • Experience in event planning and coordination is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the nonprofit sector and familiarity with issues affecting nonprofit organizations in Los Angeles, particularly those serving individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, is an asset.
  • Technical proficiency in website development, digital platforms, and troubleshooting is required.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely, while also collaborating effectively with a team.

WORKING HOURS AND COMPENSATION

This is a fully remote, part-time position, with approximately 15-20 hours of work per month, with mandatory attendance of pre-set meetings.

  • The schedule can be flexible, with some evening or weekend availability required for meetings and events.
  • The hourly rate for this position ranges between $50 and $70, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
