- Job Title: Drilling Field Supervisor
- Employment Type: Full Time Direct Hire
- Type: Hourly, Non-Exempt
- Location: Woodland, California (Northern CA near Sacramento Airport)
- Summary:
- The Drilling Field Supervisor (DFS) reports to the Drilling Operations Manager (DOM) and leads a team consisting of a Drilling Supervisor (DS) Driller (D), Assistant Driller (AD), and a Field Technician (FT).
- The DFS manages the safety and efficiency of planning and execution of drilling projects, also the development of the well site locations. Is responsible for coordinating with the well planner in assessing the well plan prior to mobilizing and confirming all drilling equipment, materials, downhole processes, and procedures are firmly set in place, this will be done prior to the rig leaving Eaton’s home yard or from another job site.
- The Drilling Field Supervisor is responsible for managing the Drilling Crew with an eye on controlling spending and eliminating unnecessary or wasteful expenses though the misuse of time, equipment and other company owned resources.
- The DFS implements regular documented preventative maintenance of Eaton Drilling’s equipment, to prevent unnecessary shutdowns and surprises due to unpredictable equipment failures
- He/she must have supervisory experience as they will be responsible for planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; and rewarding and disciplining employees. The drilling supervisor should have experience developing cost proposals, invoices, and reports.
- Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):
- Assist with operation of drilling rig, and support equipment.
- Ensures compliance with Industrial and OSHA health and safety regulations
- Responsible for investigating and resolving customer complaints
- Assists in loading and unloading equipment using forklifts and other equipment.
- Responsible for their crew’s training program
- Setting and evaluating operational goals and strategies
- Assist with normal drilling procedures.
- Mix mud/grout for projects.
- Follow all safety regulations.
- Be the focal point for conducting all investigations and thoroughly filling out incident reports
- Keep equipment and location clean and orderly.
- Understand, select, and work with hand tools.
- Perform assigned equipment maintenance.
- Perform material inventory as assigned.
- Stay up to date on all weekly safety training, and daily time sheets.
- Other duties as assigned
- Requirements:
- Demonstrate solid understanding of, and adherence to all safety protocols.
- Must be mechanically inclined.
- First Aid, CPR, and AED trained.
- Fall Protection trained.
- Ability to work under pressure and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to learn and follow directions/instructions.
- Must be able to pass a federal background check.
- Must be punctual, dependable, and able to write legibly.
- Must meet all physical requirements for the job.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Must have dependable transportation and phone.
- Must have good customer relations skills.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with peers and team members.
- Ability to speak, write, read, and understand English for basic job function.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical or safety procedures, manuals, and standards.
- Ability to convey messages to clients, engineers and other personnel as needed.
- Certifications:
- · Valid Class C driver license
- · Valid Class A driver license
- · Tanker endorsement preferred
- · OSHA Safety Certificate
- Education and Experience:
- Minimum of one year of previous experience working in the drilling or 3 years in the construction industry is preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Physical Nature of the Position:
- This position is often performed in an outdoor environment having changing weather conditions and uncomfortably hot or cold climates.
- May often work in awkward and cramped positions, or on ladders. This position may require the employee to work in confined spaces, or at heights.
- May be exposed to strong or unpleasant odors; be exposed to electrical hazards; and have the possibility of experiencing burns, bodily injury, as well as exposure to non-ionizing radiation, and contact with toxic substances or chemical irritants.
- Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in hot or cold environmental conditions, and/or in awkward and cramped positions, or on ladders.
- Must be able to work in areas containing high noise levels.
- Must be able to walk, stand, reach, stoop, bend, twist, and grip, or lie on back to perform job duties.
- Must possess coordination and manual dexterity to work with hand and power tools.
- Must have visual acuity, including discernment of colors, and be able to communicate verbally.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
