Endoscopy Surgical technician

A premier and fast- expanding Gastroenterology Practice with 3 ASC locations in Columbia, Annapolis and Olney, Maryland is seeking an experienced Endoscopy/Surgical Technologist, who is an integral member of the Endoscopy team and provides support for physicians and RN’s throughout endoscopy procedures by preparing, providing, and caring for instruments and equipment, obtaining specimens, and maintaining a sterile field where applicable.

The Endoscopy/Surgical Technologist is responsible for:

• Room set-up and tear-down
• Scope reprocessing
• Specimen collection
• Assisting doctors and nurses during endoscopy procedures

Job Summary:

Surgical Technologists work under the supervision of a RN to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical Technologists possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate an invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedure. The Surgical Technologist handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. They understand the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon. They have the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and are constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. They assist in all areas of the operating room to include sterile processing.

Gastroenterology (GI) is a specialty practice area in which health-care staff provide care to patients with known or suspected gastrointestinal problems who are undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic treatment or procedures. This care is provided by specially trained endoscopy nurses and technicians.

Education and Training

• Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program is required. Certification is preferred.
• Surgical technician experience preferred. Experience as an endoscopy tech preferred.

• Columbia, MD but also available positions in Olney, MD and Annapolis, MD

Timing:

• Part-time or Full-time; Monday - Friday 7:30am-3:30pm
