Summary/Objective 
The Freight Handler position will work under the supervision of the Warehouse Logistics manager and Warehouse Lead to provide general labor duties within the warehouse departments as directed. Responsibilities include but are not limited to; loading/unloading trucks, packing and wrapping pallets, and assisting with inventory management duties. To succeed in this role, the individual will need to be motivated, a team player, and take direction well.


Essential Functions

  1. Pack and wrap pallets as directed
  2. Assist with unloading/loading of Freight and Parcel Delivery trucks
  3. Inspect all product for damage or missing items according to order and invoices
  4. Assist in separating equipment by department and customer
  5. Place product in correct inventory location as directed
  6. Follow guidelines when moving inventory to ensure all changes and moves are logged into inventory system
  7. Assist in maintaining inventory electronically via audits and hand count inventory as needed for compliance and to resolve discrepancies
  8. Follow policies and procedures regarding safety, equipment storage and warehouse guidelines
  9. Cultivate positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders 
  10. Attend and be on time for daily departmental meeting
  11. Attend all other departmental meetings as assigned
  12. Maintain confidentiality of all client information.
  13. Proficient in all department and company policies, procedures and processes.
  14. Maintain warehouse environment to HTG standards as assigned
  15. Report consistently and on time to work
  16. Perform other work-related duties as assigned


Competencies

  1. Must be able to read, understand and follow both oral/written instructions
  2. Must communicate effectively in both oral/written format
  3. Technical Capacity
  4. Basic knowledge of MS Outlook and Excel
  5. Must be able to safely operate warehouse equipment related to job duties, including a forklift and pallet jack
  6. Ability to learn and retain knowledge of rules, regulations and procedures applicable to position
  7. Organized
  8. Detail-oriented
  9. Must effectively manage time and meet deadlines
  10. Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities with excellent accuracy
  11. Ability to communicate and cooperate with both team members and manager
  12. Ability to work in a team and take direction well


Work Environment
This job operates in a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and box cutters. This role also utilizes computers, printers, and software programs to perform the essential functions of the job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for the duration of their shift. The employee is regularly required to bend, reach, stretch and move to perform the duties of this position. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.



Required Education and Experience

  1. High School Diploma
  2. Must be able to consistently lift and move heavy objects
  3. Must be able to stand for duration of 8-hour shift
  4. Great physical stamina and manual dexterity
  5. Ability to work flexible shifts and extended hours as workload demands


Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Associate degree
  2. Previous warehouse experience strongly preferred
  3. Forklift Certification a plus
  4. Previous experience receiving and scheduling freight shipments
  5. Previous experience with inventory management software
