Job Description

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE 
The laboratory position assists in the quality control of raw materials and finished goods by
performing product testing and inspections prior to, during, and after completion of production
processes. The position supports the development and registration of new and existing
products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • 1. Ability to follow written and oral instructions from quality and production management to
  • support production and quality control activities of company products.
  • 2. Perform raw material and product testing, to ensure quality standards and specifications
  • are met.
  • 3. Help with sampling and analysis of production rework and flush material.
  • 4. Record laboratory data in appropriate format in laboratory notebooks, spreadsheets and
  • files.
  • 5. Read, interpret, and accurately apply batch sheets, quality control procedures, and
  • specifications for product.
  • 6. Perform follow-up quality assurance inspection on finished products retains to ensure
  • shelf-life quality is maintained.
  • 7. Assist with the routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • 8. Interact with production personnel to ensure production integrity of finished goods.
  • 9. Assist with compliance of the company’s environmental program and required permits,
  • by participating in sampling, testing and analysis as needed.
  • 10. Responsible for the filing and retention of various laboratory documents including
  • Certificate of Analysis, receiving documents and batch records.
  • 11. Communicate with management regarding all accidents or incidents; participate in
  • workplace investigations when requested.
  • 12. Participate in the company’s safety program; attend safety training sessions as required;
  • report unsafe working conditions to management, and implement corrective action as
  • instructed.
  • 13. Maintain a clean and safe work area; follow all safety precautions for the tasks assigned
  • as it relates to equipment, materials, and personal protective equipment.
  • 14. Provide technical support for manufacturing operations and related activities.
  • 15. Provide scale-up batches of formulations prior to production.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne
particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, electrical current, and chemicals. The employee
may be required to work outside / warehouse for periods of time. The noise level in the work
environment can be loud. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee must occasionally perform the following tasks:

  • walking for extended periods;
  • standing for extended periods.
  • pushing/pulling;
  • lifting and/or moving up to 30 pounds;

The employee must frequently perform the following tasks:

  • reaching (extending arms in any direction);
  • sitting for extended periods;
  • pushing/pulling;
  • grasping (applying pressure with fingers);
  • talking/hearing;

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision,
peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are subject to production requirements, and can
exceed 40 hours per week.

TRAVEL
No travel is expected for this position.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A 4-year degree in a scientific field is preferred, but not required. (chemistry is preferred).
  • Previous laboratory experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations.
  • Knowledge of laboratory instruments and testing equipment.

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Documentation verifying identity and authorization to perform work in the United States is
required.
