School Based Therapist

NYFS is actively recruiting a School Based Therapist with a master’s degrees (license preferred) for the Roseville School District. To apply, please email your resume and cover letter to HumanResources@nyfs.org

Responsibilities:

  • Complete Diagnostic Assessments using trauma-responsive, culturally responsive, and age-appropriate assessment tools, resulting in clinical diagnosis.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans which define plan of services and intervention; update treatment plans according to regulatory requirements; and provide optimum client care.
  • Involve client caregivers in assessment and treatment planning process, and in care when indicated.
  • Independently provide individual, couple and family therapy as needed to address client treatment needs and provide crisis intervention services as appropriate.
  • Provide services in a school setting but also offer sessions in-home or in the clinic as needed.
  • Work well with school staff and community partners and invest in collaborative care with other providers in clients’ lives.
  • Provide training and consultation to school staff and students around mental health issues and recovery strategies.
  • Complete documentation and billing in a timely manner in accordance with NYFS guidelines and all relevant HIPAA and DHS guidelines.
  • Provide culturally responsive, trauma-responsive, community-based, and developmentally appropriate care.
  • Actively contribute to weekly case consultation, staff meetings, and agency and community events as assigned.
  • Abide by all professional ethical standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD in Social Work, Psychology, Professional Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
  • Is on track towards independent clinical licensure, meeting professional eligibility requirements (for example, social workers need to have LGSW)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LICSW, LMFT, LP or LPCC
  • Speaks Spanish, Hmong, Karen, or Somali fluently
  • Training and experience in treatment of individuals who have experienced trauma.
  • Art therapy, Play Therapy, Couple/Family Therapy, or Group Therapy training or interest.
  • Knowledge of health conditions and common comorbidities
  • Clinical Supervision experience or interest; enthusiasm about training interns.
  • Credentialed with major insurances
  • Experience with Procentive a plus

Strong candidates will have a solid understanding of their own culture and practice sensitivity and respect to the cultural backgrounds of their clients as well as other staff, actively integrating responsiveness to client’s individual, family, and community needs into their care. NYFS welcomes clients as well as staff with diverse cultural/ethnic identities, sexual orientations, gender identities, disabilities, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Salary Range: Starting salary is from $25.50 to $31.25 per hour ($53,000 to $65,000 full time equivalent annual pay if year-round) based on education, licensure, experience, and specialized training and skills (trauma modalities, languages spoken, clinical supervisor, etc.).

School Based Positions:

NYFS has partnerships with St. Anthony/New Brighton, White Bear Lake, Mounds View, and Roseville school districts, providing therapy in the school to students. Elementary, Middle, and High School placements are available in the Roseville and St. Anthony/New Brighton districts.

NYFS is open to applicants who want to work year-round and to those who want a schedule aligned with the district school year (10 months). Summer work, mid-June through mid-August, is optional and number of hours is dependent on applicant preference, up to full time.

  • The final week of the year NYFS closes services to ensure all staff have a paid collective week off to support work sustainability.
  • Weekly supervision is provided for all staff working toward licensure. Biweekly supervision offered for all staff regardless of licensure to support staff wellness and quality client care.
  • Many training opportunities including specific trauma modalities (TF-CBT, NET, CCPT) and cultural responsiveness trainings quarterly.
  • Therapists participate in weekly reflective clinical consultation as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
