Position Summary:
The 1st Shift Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the functionality and efficiency of machinery and equipment within our cabinet shop. This position requires a combination of mechanical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to preventive maintenance. The Maintenance Technician will work closely with production teams to minimize downtime and optimize productivity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Routine Maintenance: Perform scheduled inspections, lubrication, and preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, buildings, and grounds according to established schedules to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues with production equipment promptly and effectively. Identify root causes of problems and implement appropriate solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Repair and Replacement: Conduct repairs and replacements of faulty components, such as motors, bearings, belts, and sensors. Utilize hand and power tools, as well as specialized equipment, to restore equipment functionality efficiently. Performs minor and assists on major repairs of all equipment and buildings.
  • Machine Setup and Calibration: Assist in the setup and calibration of machinery to meet production requirements. Ensure equipment is properly configured for specific tasks and make necessary adjustments as needed.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times while performing maintenance activities. Conduct regular safety inspections on equipment and machinery to identify potential hazards and address them promptly.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and parts inventory. Generate reports on equipment performance, maintenance schedules, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with production teams and other maintenance personnel to coordinate maintenance schedules, prioritize tasks, and address maintenance-related issues effectively. Provide technical support and guidance to operators as needed.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements within the maintenance department. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and suggest innovative solutions to enhance equipment reliability and performance.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in mechanical or electrical maintenance preferred.
  • Proven experience as a maintenance technician or similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in reading technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with a variety of hand and power tools used in maintenance and repair.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, and controls.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations and protocols.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to perform the essential functions of the position including, but not be limited to the following:

  • Sit, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Moving, bending, standing, kneeling, lifting and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physical tasks associated with equipment maintenance.
  • Pushing/pulling, grasping/squeezing, pinching, fine motor dexterity.
  • Exposure to high noise levels and requires wearing hearing protection in designated areas.
  • Exposure to plant environment to include moving parts, fumes, dust. Safety glasses to be worn at all times.
