The Mental Health Association of Monmouth County is seeking a full-time Manager for its Intensive Family Support Services (IFSS) program. The IFSS Manager reports to the Vice President of Clinical Services.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing consultation sessions to families of adults with a serious mental health condition to influence change, improve stability and quality of life, enhance empowerment, and ensure the basic rights of the family.
  • Complete biopsychosocial assessments, including accurately identifying the family's psychosocial and behavioral concerns, strengths, vulnerabilities, and expressed needs and goals. Goals will include counseling interventions to develop coping and stress-reduction strategies, set limits, solve problems, and enhance communication skills.
  • Provide ongoing group support for families.
  • Deliver current psychoeducation on severe mental health conditions, such as bio-neurological aspects, the impact of substance use and abuse, psychotropic medication, and the associated risks of mixing mood-altering substances.
  • Design and deliver psychoeducational workshops and presentations on evidence-based treatment practices and modalities.
  • Provide crisis intervention and safety planning.
  • Complete all required documentation in family files in a timely manner, in accordance with applicable policies and regulations. (Evidence of consultation sessions shall be reflected in the clinical record and reference the family's preferences and status.)
  • Assist families in utilizing all available community resources to best meet their needs.
  • Deliver services according to the family's needs and preferences, including in-home and off-site.
  • Attend peer supervision meetings and other meetings as requested.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of quarterly community-based programs designed to educate on critical topics relevant to the broader community.


Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Assess general family status and interpret documentation.
  • Identify clinical crises that may require emergency intervention.
  • Network with a variety of both formal and informal community resources.
  • Educate families on mental illness and other functional impairments.
  • Discuss substance use and dependence issues.
  • Possess an awareness of clinical resources available and the means to obtain them.
  • Create a crisis safety plan with each family that utilizes all community emergency 24-hour services.
  • Educate families on following a crisis plan.


Education:
  • A master's degree in a mental health clinical discipline.
  • Three years' experience providing mental health services to individuals with severe and persistent mental health conditions, as well as their families.
