Job Description

SolidWorks CADD Drafter Position

Classification:
Non-exempt

Wage:
DOE

Reports to:
CADD Manager

The selected candidate may be required to work as part of a team or individually on a project. Having a flexible schedule is a must. A candidate who has worked on detailed structural pedestals has a better chance at this position than others. To be successful as a CADD Technician, you should have extensive work experience with CADD software, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to possibly work with others as a team. A top-class CADD Technician is a technical wizard, creating exact computer models according to the client’s specification. Possibility of mandatory overtime on occasion.


Preferred Skill Qualifications:

  • Intermediate or above in SolidWorks
  • Intermediate or above in AutoCAD
  • Proficient in MS software package; Excel, Word, etc.
  • Experienced in Fusion 360 is beneficial
  • Digital organization
  • Knowledge of Quick Books Online
  • Proactive behaviors
  • Ability to multitask
  • Excellent English communications; written and verbal
  • Great people skills
  • Punctual
  • Flexibility to schedule
  • Detail oriented
  • Structural conceptualization
  • An understanding of various steels is a plus
  • Understanding of welding symbols or the ability to learn quickly

  • Ability to give a detailed answer to project questions at a moment’s notice
  • Adeptness in dealing with highly stressful situations

Duties Include:

  • Input design specifications into the CADD software
  • Answering the fabricator's questions
  • Read IFC’s and Blueprints
  • Self and peer quality checks
  • Creating CADD models according to client specification
  • Working with a design team and individually on CADD projects
  • Reviewing CADD models with the client and making minor adjustments
  • Basic mathematics including reading a tape measure

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:
Office and some shop–appropriate attire required (OSHA compliant work boots responsibility of employee)

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to walk back and forth from office to shop

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

40 hours per week. 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with potential mandatory overtime.
