Job Description: Electrician

Reports To: Crew leader/Supervisor

Classification: Non-Exempt

General Description:

As an Electrician, your primary responsibility is to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in various settings, including residential, commercial, and industrial environments. Your expertise ensures the safe and efficient operation of electrical infrastructure, contributing to the functionality of buildings and equipment.

Duties:

  • Installation: You will be responsible for installing electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment according to relevant codes and blueprints. This includes routing wires, mounting outlets and switches, and connecting electrical components to power sources.
  • Maintenance: Regular maintenance of electrical systems is essential to prevent malfunctions and ensure safety. You will perform inspections, testing, and routine maintenance tasks to identify and address issues such as loose connections, worn-out components, and electrical hazards.
  • Repair: In the event of electrical failures or malfunctions, you will diagnose the problem and implement appropriate repair solutions. This may involve replacing faulty components, repairing damaged wiring, and troubleshooting electrical circuits to restore functionality.
  • Compliance: Adherence to electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards is paramount in this role. You will ensure that all electrical work meets regulatory requirements and follows best practices for safety and quality.
  • Collaboration: Electricians often work closely with other construction professionals, including architects, engineers, and contractors. Effective communication and collaboration are essential to coordinate electrical installations with overall construction projects.
  • Documentation: Accurate record-keeping is necessary to document work performed, including installation diagrams, maintenance logs, and repair reports. This documentation helps track the history of electrical systems and facilitates future maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service is important, especially in residential and commercial settings. You may interact with clients to understand their electrical needs, explain work procedures, and address any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Complete other duties at the discretion of management.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an apprenticeship program or vocational training in electrical work.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician certification, depending on the jurisdiction.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and wiring methods.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and regulations, such as the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and manual dexterity.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces and heights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds to overhead position.
  • Must be able to push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have the balance and dexterity to maneuver around a construction site and must enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be drug and alcohol free.
  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, and climb ladders throughout complete shift.
  • Positive attitude and team player
  • Adhering to all safety policies, including wearing safety harness and other required equipment.
  • Ability to withstand different climates (extreme heat and other weather).
  • Ability to see.
  • Ability to hear.
  • Ability to communicate audibly with others.
