POSITION TITLE: Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and Circuit Engineer

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Lead RF Engineer

LOCATION: Onsite. The company HQ is Boulder, Colorado.

JOB SUMMARY

The Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and Circuit Engineer is responsible for ensuring that Weather Stream’s supply chain is consistently able to provide high-quality, reliable components for various client applications. The successful candidate will have experience in design and implementation of printed circuit boards, with hands-on knowledge of schematic capture, library elements, and layout. This person will use Altium for PCB design.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Other duties may be assigned.


  1. Perform PCB schematic capture working with other team members.
  2. Perform PCB layout in Altium Designer, working closely with other team members.
  3. Generate and revise fabrication outputs and release packages for PCBs and assemblies.
  4. Manage and maintain electronic component libraries in Altium 365.
  5. Generate and review schematic symbols and footprints.
  6. Support discussion on new suppliers, track PCB receipts and dispositions, and propose or support additional testing required to vet suspect PCB production lots.


QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  1. Strong Altium Designer experience, preferably with 365.
  2. Experience with RF design on performance substrates
  3. Designing low noise clean analog power supplies for test instrumentation
  4. Working understanding of the technical principles of PCB layout, including routing high-speed digital signals.
  5. Experience with high-reliability, aerospace, and/or IPC Class 3 designs.
  6. Experience with advanced PCB manufacturing techniques such as blind vias and microvias.


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  1. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a PCB Designer.
  2. Knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes, common defects and problems, and how those non-conformances impact overall reliability of the product.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Ability to sit for an extended period of time, up to 8 hours per day.
  2. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  1. This job operates in a professional office environment and laboratory setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones, as well as lab equipment.
  2. Normal office environment. The noise level in the work environment varies between quiet and moderate.
  3. This is a full-time position, in-office. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position may require long hours and weekend work.
  4. Ability to work hybrid/remote, as approved.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Our commitment to your success is enhanced by our competitive full-time salary of $75,000 - $92,000, with total compensation including stock options and benefits, plus potential to earn an annual bonus and merit increase.
