Psychotherapist, Service Coordinator 

LOCATION: Toronto, ON 

POSITION TYPE: Part-time Regular (24 hours/week)

Lumenus is currently filling part-time permanent positions in our Brief Services Program. 

 

Candidates in the qualifying process (OCSWSSW or CRPO) meeting the specified requirements may be considered for these job vacancies as a one-year contract or secondment as deemed available to work towards completing the qualifications for Registered Psychotherapist (CRPO) or Registered Social Worker (OCSWSSW) status. 

 

Brief Services: The positions have a focus on providing Brief Psychotherapy/ Service Coordination (Single sessions in What’s Up Walk In) to children, youth, young adults and their families who  have   mental  health  concerns   and/or   a dual diagnosis (mental health and developmental disability). 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide a range of clinical services (individual, parent, family therapies) including goal directed Psychotherapy in a Single Session, according to client needs and as required in the position;
  • Assume the intake function with clients and their families, work collaboratively with all involved, complete Assessments, set goals and service plans from a systems perspective. 
  • Participate in the carrying out of Assessment and Outcome measures as required. 
  • Work collaboratively with the school, health and child welfare systems to ensure integrated and coordinated service to assigned youth/families;
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision and consultations on a regular basis to provide quality of care;
  • Identify and advocate on behalf of youth and families to address gaps in service;
  • Maintain effective working relationships with the referral sources and other service providers as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: 

  • M.S.W., M.A., or equivalent with at least 2 years of professional experience or combination of education and experience;
  • Registration with the OCSWSSW or CRPO is required.
  • Candidates in the qualifying process (OCSWSSW or CRPO) meeting the specified requirements may be considered for these job vacancies as a one-year contract or secondment as deemed available to work towards completing the qualifications for Registered Psychotherapist (CRPO) or Registered Social Worker (OCSWSSW) status. 

     Applicants in qualifying process to be considered for a one-year contract or secondment

  • M.S.W., M.A., or equivalent with entry-level professional experience or combination of education and experience;
  • Registration qualifying in progress with the OCSWSSW or CRPO 
  • CRPO Qualifying must have already obtained 300 Direct Client Contact hours and 65 Clinical Supervision hours
  • CRPO Qualifying must be registered to write the exam
  • OCSWSSW Qualifying must have registration application completed with confirmation of acceptance in process and registered for the entry-to-practice exam as applicable

 

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Excellent assessment and intervention skills with youth/families and relevant experience providing individual and family therapy to children and or youth;
  • A solid understanding and clinical experience with the Bio-Psycho-Social Model, as well as clinical evidence-informed practices such as CBT, SFT, EFT/EFFT, Narrative, DBT, attachment and trauma-informed work;
  • A strength-based philosophy of service provision and a belief in the resiliency of children, youth and families;
  • A capacity to build and nurture working relationships with partner agencies;
  • A self-starter with an ability to work independently, as well as within an established team structure;
  • Solid understanding of the Anti-oppressive framework.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of autism and/or dual diagnosis and the impact on the clients and their families.
  • Knowledge of LGBTQ, racialized, and newcomer communities, and youth with a dual diagnosis (mental health and developmental disability) and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as lived experience of racism, ableism, homophobia, or transphobia are advantageous;
  • Well-developed computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft applications;

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Satisfactory clearance under the Vulnerable Sector Screening process;
  • Flexibility and ability to travel to work in different office locations, schools, home, community as needed;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings;
  • Fluency in Spanish, Tagalog, Korean, Cantonese, Mandarin, French, or Vietnamese is an asset.
