Lead Optician

Our private optometry office is looking for a Lead Optician. We emphasize excellent customer service and educating our patients in a friendly team atmosphere.

We are looking for an experienced Optician to run our Optical Department. This position includes patient care, customer service, ability to understand insurance benefits and ability to communicate well. We provide vision and primary medical eye care. We offer a varied selection of quality frames and lens options, contact lens care, and computer vision care. You will be expected to assist patients and offer excellent service.

We are looking for someone who is outgoing and enjoys helping people solve their eye care needs. You must be a problem-solver and know how to run an Optical Department.

The Optical Department:

• neutralize glasses accurately and efficiently with a manual lensometer

• pricing/calculating proper frame and lens pricing

•  evaluating insurance benefits and submitting claims electronically

• frame selections (proper choice of frame based on RX and needs of patient, proper fitting and cosmetic aspects, sales features and benefits)

• adjusting, minor repairs, ordering, verifying orders, troubleshooting

• creating an enjoyable purchasing experience for patients

• Communicate clearly with patients, staff, and vendors in a timely manner

Other Duties Include:

● assist in greeting patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments
● assist in obtaining insurance authorizations and billing insurance
● working closely with doctor, labs and frame vendors
● maintain inventory of frames and work within a budget

Our preferred candidate would possess the following:

● strong administrative skills and computer skills, including knowledge of Eyefinity Practice Management
● sales and customer service experience
● 3 years minimum experience as an Optician

Candidates must have excellent communication skills, accuracy, dependability, professionalism, and a positive attitude towards learning. Attention to detail is a must.

This position is full-time (34 hours per week). We are currently open Mondays 11-3pm,
Tuesdays 10-7pm, Wednesdays 9-7pm, Thursdays and Fridays are 9-5pm.
