GENERAL SUMMARY

This position provides support for various systems and applications within the Daicel network, as well as technical expertise and support for the design, implementation, configuration, and administration of the Network and Systems infrastructure. The infrastructure's components include virtualization software, storage arrays, physical and virtual servers, and switched and routed networks. The candidate must also have effective communication skills and be able to handle complex projects. This position reports to the IT Manager.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented components of the environment.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in Windows Server 2008 and newer OS versions and is versed in best practices.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in Cisco, VMware, Microsoft, Pure, and Qumulo.
  • Identify and resolve switched, routed, and Wi-Fi network issues.
  • Maintain hardware and software lifecycle management.
  • Define and maintain standards in relation to hardware and software.
  • Investigate and deploy new Windows-based technologies and develop operational procedures and processes to support new technologies, including documentation.
  • Conduct regular system audits.
  • Overseeing and determining timeframes and schedules for major IT projects, including system updates, upgrades, migrations, and outages.
  • Train Systems Administrators in the proper daily administration of current and new systems.
  • Maintains familiarity with various information technology concepts, practices, and procedures.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, or a related field is preferred, and a minimum of five years of related experience as a network/systems engineer in a manufacturing environment is required. Demonstrated technical skills/qualifications required in the following areas: Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent experience in setting and maintaining security and configuration policies within the network for firewalls, routers, and switches; MPLS deployment and management as well as routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP as implemented in Cisco devices. Demonstrated experience in networking technologies such as LAN, WAN, VoIP, QoS, VLAN, Spanning-Tree, VPN, IPsec, DNS, and DHCP. Understanding of and experience in VMware or equivalent server and desktop virtualization technologies; SAN and NAS storage technologies, iSCSI, fiber channel, FCOE; Microsoft technologies, Server 2008/2022, SQL, IIS, Active Directory, SCCM, and other enterprise applications. Understanding fiber technology, single-mode, multi-mode, simplex, duplex, BiDi, connection types, and distance limitations. Demonstrated ability to manage IT System projects required. Ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis (ROI, TCO), excellent project management skills, and strong ability to prioritize.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and manufacturing instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Must be able to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of management.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret various technical instructions in written and diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to lighting and temperature as required for the manufacturing area. Appropriate safety equipment is required by area. There is potential exposure to hazardous chemicals. A considerable amount of walking from department to department may occur in unfavorable weather conditions. The employee is exposed to the inherent dangers of the explosive materials used in the manufacturing processes.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move throughout the facility, traverse within production areas this includes walking, reaching, crouching, standing, repeating motions, pushing, pulling, sitting, kneeling, climbing, stooping. The employee is frequently required to stand and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds or team lift and/or move heavier weights. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must also be able to work at heights, use ladders, and/or use a man-lift to 25’ in the air. Occasionally, travel is required to perform duties at remote locations.
