Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: STAFF ON DUTY (NIGHT)

PART TIME: < 40 hours per week

SALARY: $14.00 per hour

SHIFT: Weekends, Weekdays

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

MISSION: The Eagle’s Nest of St. Clair County’s mission is to empower male homeless Veterans to achieve their highest level of self-sufficiency, economic independence, and rejoin the community as productive members of society.

PROGRAM: The Joseph Center – East St Louis, IL

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.

Monitors surveillance equipment noting activities in the building and on the property.

Ensures the security, safety, and well-being of all residents, staff, and visitors.

Protects the Joseph Center and its assets relative to theft, assault, fire and other safety issues.

Prevents and detects signs of intrusion of doors, windows, and gates, calls police when necessary.

Prevents loss and damage to Joseph Center property by recording and reporting irregularities.

Maintains office equipment including computers, copier, fax, telephones, etc.

Maintains proper security and control of all locks and keys.

Maintains required security and accountability of all bus tickets, patient medicines and records, and petty cash.

Checks all resident bags upon entrance to the Joseph Center, preventing passage of prohibited articles into the facility.

Monitors resident sign-in, sign-out logs, closes the logs out each night, opens new logs in the morning.

Monitors resident meal count logs for frequency of meals and reports activity to case managers.

Greets and provides general support to visitors; answers telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours or when the office is closed.

Receives in-kind donations for processing, storage, and distribution as required.

Coordinates with Case Managers to determine residents with early appointments or on approved passes.

Calls police or fire department in case of emergency or alarm, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons

Ensures the office area is locked when performing security checks, bed checks, or other activities away from the offices.

Performs routine checks of resident bathroom and other common areas, preventing possession or use of contraband.

Maintains a duty log of security checks, head counts, and traffic in and out of entrances and exits.

Records all significant activities in the daily duty log (i.e., intrusions, security violations, missing residents, resident infractions or rule violations, damage to property, theft, unauthorized persons, irregularities, unsecure doors, etc.)

Briefs incoming staff on shift activities; ensuring continuity of information.

Ensures the duty log is turned into the Executive Director at the end of the shift.

Adheres to all organization policies, procedures, and operating standards.

Works closely with the Executive Director and Staff to ensure excellent living experiences for residents.

Complies with all Federal, state and local laws and regulations for the storage, use and disposal of cleaning supplies, trash, rubbish, waste and hazardous material [OSHA]

Submits requisitions for repairs, supplies, and equipment to the Executive Director for approval.

Checks the quantity and quality of received supplies and equipment and submits all receipts to the Joseph Center

Displays a positive working relationship with residents, staff, and visitors.

Attends and contributes to regular staff meetings.

Performs general administrative tasks as required.

Performs other related duties as requested or as responsibilities dictate.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A high school diploma REQUIRED; Associate degree Preferred.
  • 2+ years of security experience PREFERRED.
  • Must have surveillance and reporting skills, interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving skills, analytical skills,
  • Must have a working knowledge of security operations and procedures.
  • Ability to use good judgment, be objective, manage multiple tasks, and follow complex instructions.
  • Must be professional, dependable, detail oriented.

Clean criminal record

Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
