POSITION

Position Title: Insurance Coordinator Effective Date:

Reports To: TBD / Current Manager

Location: Sandy, Park City and Heber

Status: Full-time (32 hours per week) *

  • *Hours may be increased based on the needs of the practice.


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Sitting 80%.
  • Standing or walking 20%.
  • Remote; in office as needed In office (training, required meetings, etc.)
  • Exceptional hand dexterity and typing skills to work with standard software programs provided.
  • Good computer aptitude in order to input insurance fee schedules, insurance benefits
  • Near Vision—the ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer) as required for computer data entry and the preparation of treatment plans.

The Insurance Coordinator is essential to the success of the patient experience. By providing detailed insurance benefit information you are helping each patient make an informed decision regarding the financial impact of their treatment. Your ability to accurately input insurance profiles will assist the Treatment Coordinators significantly as they work to prepare and present every treatment plan.


POSITION SUMMARY

The Insurance Coordinator is responsible for inputting all insurance profiles (medical and dental) into patient charts in the practice Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Additionally, the Insurance Coordinator will obtain a breakdown of benefits from the patient’s insurance company. This individual will input profiles and notate all benefit and coverage estimates in each patient’s chart prior to the patients’ initial consultation with the doctor.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide, and complete insurance paperwork and obtain information from patients’ insurance provider(s)

as needed to ensure payment.

  • Exercises discretion and independent judgment regarding coverage and insurance estimates.
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to use practice software systems.
  • Specialized understanding and experience in handling insurance matters in a medical setting.
  • Actively pursues provision of excellent customer service service.
  • Must always represent the practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner.
  • Must be able to comfortably and efficiently handle multiple deadlines and task assignments.
  • Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in team settings.
  • Must maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance in accordance with assigned schedule

and time off policies.

  • Occasionally there may be some travel, by car or plane, required in order to participate in continuing

education or seminars.

  • Other duties and tasks, as assigned periodically.

  • Must demonstrate active listening by giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Must demonstrate good reading comprehension by understanding written sentences and paragraphs

in work-related documents.

  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills by talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • Information Ordering - The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according

to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).


QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma.
  • Accurate typing at 40 words per minute.
  • One Year Minimum Office experience.
  • Preferred Two Years’ experience.
