Associate Veterinarian

Bensonhurst Veterinary Care is a fantastic, small animal hospital in Brooklyn, NY and is the sister hospital to Greenwood Veterinary Care. Our goal as a practice is to deliver compassionate, high quality care to all of our patients. Our veterinary professionals achieve this by engaging in continuing education while always focusing on effective communication with our clients. This lends to consistent delivery of medically advanced, optimal treatment plans for each individual patient. We offer our patients exceptional services which include wellness and sick exams, vaccinations, diagnostic testing, surgical services, dental procedures, laser therapy, platelet rich plasma and stem cell therapy, behavior counseling, emergency services, and more.  

We are located in Brooklyn, NY. The proximity to Manhattan makes for easy access to the incredible things that the big city has to offer, but still provides shelter and a more laid-back life in one of the outer boroughs. Popular activities in the area include the many local restaurants and bars, as well as being right next to Prospect Park which is an amazing public resource. There are countless local museums, entertainment options, and sporting events. The neighborhood has many different housing options -- from apartments to Victorian mansions (yes, in NYC!). Our Veterinarians:

• Develop a relationship with our clients and partner with them to deliver the highest quality patient care possible. 
• Treat each pet individually to minimize stress, anxiety or discomfort.

We’re looking for:

• Full Time OR Part Time Veterinarian
• New graduates seeking mentorship are encouraged to apply!

• Proficient in general medicine and surgery 
• Doctor of Veterinary degree, or equivalent, from an AVMA accredited university
• Current DEA License or obtained upon hire
• Active Veterinary State License 
• USDA Accreditation or obtained upon hire

Special Working Conditions:

• Ability to sit or stand and work at a computer for long periods of time.
• Ability to be confident around animals (i.e., dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, etc. Candidate to confirm species treated with practice leadership for additional clarity.)

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
• Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate other equipment as required.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Hospital teammates are routinely exposed to a variety of animals that may bite, kick or scratch, and on occasion, may be exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological or zoonotic hazards and/or medication/controlled substances.
