JOB TITLE: Structural Dynamics Engineer

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

REPORTING TO: Project Engineer

Founded in 1955, Piasecki Aircraft Corporation (PiAC) is a research and development business specializing in design, fabrication and flight testing of experimental rotorcraft and unmanned air vehicles. Piasecki has developed and flown more than 25 different advanced VTOL and UAV aircraft and continues to develop cutting-edge vertical flight technologies.

SUMMARY:

The Piasecki Aircraft Corporation Dynamics Analyst is responsible for solving complex structural dynamics problems. The Dynamics Analyst has experience with complex aero-mechanical modeling and testing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform structural dynamic analyses for aircraft and flight hardware.
Produce and maintain models generated from software codes, that simulate mechanical loading conditions, dynamic environments (shock and vibration), and mechanism motions.
Provide rapid analysis results to support trade studies and rapid prototype development.
Prepare test plans/requirements for: static, separation dynamics, vibration, modal and shock tests. Analyze and document the results in post-test reports.
Perform loads development (primary structure and component level), shock and vibration environments determination and component and system level testing and data evaluation.
Document analysis in formal reports that are clear, adequately detailed, and timely.
Experience in the planning and execution of static, vibration, acoustic, modal, and shock tests for aerospace flight hardware to validate compliance with MIL-HDBK-516C

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

Advanced understanding of missile and/or spacecraft structures, statics, strength of materials, structural dynamics principles, and methods.
Proficient in programming and use of MATLAB for analysis and data manipulation

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS / CLEARANCES:

Advanced knowledge and/or experience with static and structural dynamics analysis
A master’s degree in mechanical engineering/structural mechanics program
