Job Description
We are looking for a Heavy Equipment/Diesel Mechanic to assist with preventative maintenance and repairs of diesel equipment in the field. While this role focuses on diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, our ideal candidate is also comfortable working as a technician who can diagnose and repair technology issues in newer trucks. In addition to making repairs, you will also be responsible for performing preventative maintenance on diesel engines, brakes, transmissions, and other systems.
Responsibilities:
- Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance
- Troubleshoot issues with diesel engines
- Determine what parts and tools are necessary to make repairs
- Diagnose and repair issues in diesel engines
- Diagnose and repair issues with hydraulics, brakes, transmission, steering, and other systems
- Perform welding or fabrication tasks on trailers and other equipment as necessary
- Prepare work orders and order parts
- Complete shop paperwork
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Post-secondary certificate or degree in engineering OR training as a mechanic (a plus)
- 3 to 5 years of experience with diesel/heavy equipment repair
- Valid driver's license (CDL strongly preferred)
- Welding experience (a plus)
- Manual dexterity
- Mechanical skills
- Basic computer skills
- Basic math skills
