Day Camp Maintenance- Seasonal Position

Maintenance Technician at Valley Mill Day Camp:

The Maintenance Technician at Valley Mill Camp is responsible for maintaining the physical infrastructure of the camp, ensuring a safe and clean environment for children and staff. This role involves various duties, including but not limited to: maintaining buildings and systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC), responding to emergencies, repairing and maintaining equipment (laundry machines, refrigerators, hand and power tools), keeping the camp clean and hygienic, and identifying ongoing maintenance needs. The Maintenance Technician also participates in construction projects and works on forest stewardship projects.

To perform this job successfully, the candidate should be proficient in some of the following areas: carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, sheetrock installation, painting, HVAC repair, Cutting down trees, Cleaning forested area, golf cart operation, Repairs on vehicles, and pest control. A valid driver’s license is required. The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism and accountability, takes initiative to analyze and solve problems, treats others with courtesy and respect, maintains a high degree of ethics, integrity, and confidentiality. They should be able to work effectively without supervision present and have previous construction and maintenance experience. A satisfactory criminal background check is also required.

The physical demands of this job include lifting up to 75 lbs., frequent sitting, standing, climbing, bending, walking, kneeling; stamina to work long hours; willingness to work in inclement weather; ability to perform tasks involved in normal operations of the business; working outside all day (exposure to sun/rain/bugs); working in noisy environments; dealing with hazards associated with construction work (wildlife encounters); occasional availability for evenings/weekends/holidays as needed.

Hours are 8-5pm, Monday-Friday. Employment is seasonal - Valley Mill Camp runs from June 8 -August 23.
