Job Description

Mental Health Specialist - TEEMA Group, Inglewood, CA, USA

The Mental Health Specialist will be responsible for providing mental health services to individuals and families in need. The successful candidate will be a compassionate and knowledgeable professional with a passion for helping others.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clinical case management and short-term individual therapy using a harm reduction approach.

  • Offer substance abuse counseling services upon veteran request.

  • Provide crisis counseling and conduct risk assessments.

  • Support veteran residents in achieving program goals related to Housing Retention, Skill or Income Enhancement, Mainstream Resource Connection, Rent Payment, and Financial

  • Facilitate engagement in recreational activities.

  • Lead weekly group sessions. Offer community-based support, including transportation assistance in company vehicles when needed.

  • Achieve all contractual and program objectives.

  • Coordinate treatment with various VA providers.

  • Complete all necessary program documentation within designated timeframes.

  • Assist with residential tasks such as meal preparation, wellness checks, phone and door duties, and medication reminders.

  • Host monthly community meetings with the Property Manager.

  • Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions.

  • Maintain availability for veteran emergencies outside regular hours.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree is mandatory, while a Master's in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling from an accredited institution is preferred.

  • Alternatively, a Master's degree meeting the educational standards for a Marriage and Family Therapist or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor license issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs Board of Behavioral Science Examiners is preferred, though not obligatory.

  • Applicants should have two (2) years of experience delivering mental health services directly to individuals facing homelessness, substance abuse, and mental health challenges.

  • A valid California Driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
