Transportation Construction Inspector

This position is eligible for a $1,000 sign on bonus

The Transportation Construction Inspector will provide inspection services for a multi-year roadway and bridge reconstruction project on the Northeast extension near Quakertown.

Responsibilities

• Observe the construction contractors’ operations to ensure all work is following the Turnpike specifications and guidelines.
• Document the work being performed each day including staff and equipment on site.
• Verify construction work conformity with the approved plans, specifications, and contract provisions.
• Keep electronic records utilizing the PTC's Construction Documentation System (CDS) to document the construction progress utilizing the provided iPad.
• Measure and record pay quantities in CDS
• Valid Pa Driver's License required
• Physical requirements
  • Stand for extended periods of time
  • Walk several miles per day
  • Work in the outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Work various shifts including overtime (as needed)
  • Travel to project sites

Requirements

• 2 years minimum of transportation, highway or bridge construction inspection experience or 4 years minimum of highway or bridge construction
• Associates Degree or higher in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering field
• A valid driver’s license is required
• Preferred but not required certifications - NICET highway construction level II, PennDOT concrete, NECEPT bituminous
