Diesel Mechanic

Schroeder Truck Repair is a family owned & operated Union Diesel Repair Shop serving the St. Louis area for over 70 years.
Currently being run by the 4th generation of Schroeders. We are currently looking for Diesel Mechanics for our 2nd shift, 3:30 to Midnight.
Monday through Friday work week.

Responsibilities:

• Routine and preventative maintenance.
• Diagnose mechanical problems on suspensions, brake systems and hydraulic systems.
• Perform repairs and maintenance on diesel trucks.
• Assess structural damages and repairs.
• Overhaul diesel engines.
• Diagnose issues and make repairs using service manuals and diagnostic software.
• Test vehicles to troubleshoot and ensure completion.

Job Requirements:

• At least 4 years of diesel or heavy equipment maintenance and repair experience. (Preferred)
• Advanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system, and the mechanisms of a diesel engine (Hi rail and hydraulic knowledge is Preferred)
• In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms
• Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment
• Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Keen attention to detail
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics
• Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software
• A valid driver’s license (CDL strongly preferred)
• Good interpersonal skills
• Effective collaboration and communication skills
• Must furnish own tools.
