Job Description

Sunstone Therapies is the leader in the delivery of psychedelic-assisted therapy in the medical setting, focusing on the development and implementation of clinical trials today, and moving towards clinical delivery if and when therapies are approved. Right now, we have one site with roughly 30 employees (not including trainee therapists)-- looking to build our team and expand to 2 more sites in the next 2 years. Sunstone Therapies is working to accelerate the on-the-ground learning and operations necessary to approve and scale psychedelic therapies in the medical setting. Sunstone is a leader in addressing the mental health of cancer patients and their caregivers through psychedelic therapies. In service to Sunstone’s vision of Whole Person Healing for All, this position plays a role in Sunstone’s ability to deliver on its vision with Love and Rigor.

To be successful in this role in this growth stage start-up, the candidate must be a detail-oriented self-starter and problem solver, be able to shift projects and priorities rapidly to meet emerging needs and approach the work with the values of love and rigor, which are essential to the Sunstone culture.

Scope: The Psychometric Rater is responsible for the administration and efficient execution of patient screening and will be responsible for evaluating and scoring assessments to ensure accuracy, consistency, and fairness in the measurement of psychological constructs associated with clinical trials. May also be required to assist in patient recruitment activities. Completes all responsibilities under the direction of the Principal Investigator and the Research Manager and maintains accurate and confidential documentation of study participants. In executing these responsibilities, the Clinical Rater is guided by FDA regulations, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), relevant workplace practices, and company standard operating procedures.

Job activities include but are not limited to:

  1. Assessment Scoring
    1. Accurately score assessments using established guidelines and scoring rubrics.
    2. Follow standardized procedures to ensure consistency in scoring.
  2. Quality Assurance
    1. Participate in training sessions to stay updated on scoring guidelines and procedures.
    2. Contribute to ongoing quality assurance efforts to maintain scoring reliability.
  3. Data Entry and Record Keeping:
    1. Enter scored data into databases or computer systems.
    2. Maintain accurate and organized records of scored assessments.
  4. Communication:
    1. Collaborate with team members to address questions or concerns related to scoring.
    2. Provide feedback to improve scoring processes when necessary.
  5. Adherence to Protocols:
    1. Strictly adhere to ethical guidelines and protocols governing assessment scoring.
    2. Maintain confidentiality and security of assessment materials.
  6. Flexibility:
    1. Adapt to changes in assessment materials or scoring procedures.
    2. Demonstrate flexibility in handling various types of assessments.
  7. Patient Recruitment/Pre-screening Support:
    1. Assist in recruitment efforts as directed by the supervisor.
    2. Collect demographic, medical, psychiatric, and medication history during pre-screening interviews for the purpose of determining eligibility for clinical trial participation.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following skills, experience and competencies:

  • Master’s degree in psychology, education, or a related field. A doctoral degree (foreign MD, MD, DO, PsyD, PhD) may be preferred for more advanced positions.
  • Familiarity with psychometric principles and assessment tools.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in scoring.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

The strongest candidates will also demonstrate the following skills, experience and competencies:

  • Prior experience in psychometric scoring is often preferred.
  • Familiarity with specific assessments or testing tools may be an advantage.
