Job Description

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for performing day-to-day administrative functions in the practice/medical office, with a focus on check out, charge entry, insurance verification and scheduling follow up patient appointments. This is a high-volume, fast-paced practice

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Checks patients out at end of their visit
  • Coordinates follow-up patient appointments and schedules procedures and diagnostic testing
  • Assists with referrals and authorizations
  • Performs administrative and clerical duties, such as filing/labeling and scanning documentation, when necessary.
  • Ensures all pertinent billing information has been captured.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians and practice manager.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or 2+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe; Experience working with medical practice management software a plus.
  • Other skills required:
    1. Experience working as a patient representative.
    2. Knowledge of medical terms and practices.
    3. Professional manner and appearance.
    4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    5. Meticulous attention to detail.
    6. Flexibilty and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
    7. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.)
