Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs):

  • Provide assistance with personal hygiene tasks, including bathing, grooming, toileting, and dressing.
  • Assist with mobility and transfer activities, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices as needed.
  • Help clients with eating, meal preparation, feeding, and hydration, adhering to dietary restrictions and preferences.

Medication Reminders and Assistance:

  • Administer medications according to prescribed schedules, ensuring accuracy and adherence to medication management protocols.
  • Provide reminders to clients to take their medications as prescribed and assist with medication setup as needed.
  • Monitor for any adverse reactions or side effects and report any concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.

Companionship and Emotional Support:

  • Engage clients in meaningful activities and conversations to promote socialization, mental stimulation, and emotional well-being.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support, offering encouragement, empathy, and a listening ear to clients.
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes independence, dignity, and self-esteem.

Safety and Environmental Maintenance:

  • Ensure a safe and comfortable living environment for clients by identifying and addressing potential hazards and risks.
  • Assist with light housekeeping tasks, such as tidying up living areas, doing laundry, and maintaining cleanliness and organization.
  • Monitor and report any changes in the client's condition, behavior, or environment to the appropriate supervisor or healthcare professional.

Transportation and Escort Services:

  • Provide transportation assistance to clients for medical appointments, errands, shopping, and recreational outings.
  • Escort clients to and from appointments, ensuring their safety and comfort during transit.
  • Assist clients with mobility devices, such as walkers, wheelchairs, or canes, as needed.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided, including daily activity logs, vital signs, and any incidents or observations.
  • Report any changes in the client's condition or needs to the appropriate supervisor or healthcare team members.
  • Communicate effectively with other members of the care team to ensure continuity of care and collaboration in meeting client needs.

Professional Development and Training:

  • Participate in ongoing training and education to enhance skills and knowledge in personal care techniques, safety protocols, and communication strategies.
  • Stay informed about relevant healthcare regulations, policies, and best practices in personal care services.
  • Seek opportunities for professional growth and development to provide the highest quality of care to clients.
Requirements:

Certification or Training:

  • Completion of a Personal Care Aide (PCA) and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program preferred.
  • Current certification as a PCA or CNA is desirable, but relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal certification.

Experience:

- Minimum of 1 year of experience in providing personal care assistance to individuals, preferably in a home care or healthcare setting.

  • Experience working with elderly or disabled individuals is highly desirable.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in providing assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, and feeding.
  • Ability to follow care plans and instructions provided by supervisors or healthcare professionals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively and empathetically with clients, families, and care team members.
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to caregiving, with a genuine desire to enhance the quality of life for clients.
  • Physical ability to lift, transfer, and assist clients with mobility, as well as perform light housekeeping tasks.

Reliability and Flexibility:

  • Dependable and punctual, with a commitment to maintaining regular attendance and adhering to assigned schedules.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate client needs and agency requirements.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle unexpected challenges with professionalism and composure.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Knowledge of basic safety protocols and infection control practices to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for clients.
  • Understanding of confidentiality requirements and HIPAA regulations related to client information and medical records.
  • Adherence to agency policies, procedures, and guidelines, as well as relevant state and federal regulations governing personal care services.

Background Check and Immunizations:

  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, in accordance with state and agency requirements.
  • Up-to-date immunizations, including tuberculosis (TB) screening, influenza, and any other vaccinations required by the agency or state regulations.
