Job Description

We are sourcing for a Float Medical Assistant.

Float between Bedford, Southlake, and Flower Mound.

Summary:
Medical Assistant works directly with the physician in clinic. In addition, the Medical Assistant schedules tests, labs, surgeries and is the liaison between the patient and the physician for all clinical needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High School or equivalency
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in medical office setting; preferred experience in ENT/Audiology practice
  • Certificate of completion of Medical Assistant program
  • Current Basic Life Support certificate

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of practice management computer systems and applications.
  • Knowledge of the policies and procedures of a clinic sufficient to direct its operations and to provide effective patient care.
  • Knowledge of clinical operations, surgery scheduling, patient communications.

Skills:

  • Skill in computer-based systems to document, order, and communicate with office staff and patients.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication.
  • Skill in clinical operations, rooming patients, taking vitals, documenting in the EMR system.
  • Skill in surgery scheduling, insurance verification.

Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate patients regarding appointments, messages, surgery information.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with physicians regarding patient orders, accounts, messages.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, referring offices, supervisors, front office and billing staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Room and vitalize patients keeping patient flow efficiently moving.
  • Record patient information such as vital signs, medical history, medication lists in the EMR system.
  • Clean and prepare exam rooms for patients.
  • Orders appropriate laboratory and/or diagnostic procedures as ordered by a physician. Also responsible for following up on results for tests or laboratory on behalf of the physician. Ensuring the physician is apprised of all results and signs off on each patient.
  • Administers medications and injections according to physician direction.
  • Provides assistance to physicians as requested in office and minor surgical procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate the medical inventory, cleaning and stocking exam rooms.
  • Process patient form requests, contact referring physician offices as needed.
  • Utilize Electronic Medical Record and Patient Portal for communications with patients.
  • Work with patients and insurance to pre-cert testing and procedures.
  • Schedule patients for labs, imaging, and surgeries at multiple facilities.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge for insurance requirements for surgery authorizations.
  • Participates in professional development and education to maintain current license.
  • Travels to all locations with physician for clinic.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
