Job Title: Maintenance Electrician Tech
Department: Maintenance
Job Type: Full-time; Hourly
Reports to: Electrical Engineer

Pay: $32-$35

General Description:
Texas Lehigh Cement Company LP has an immediate opening for an Industrial Electrician/Instrument Technician at our plant in Houston, Texas. This is an hourly position that will typically workday shift, Monday through Friday.

As a part of our team, the electric technician must be capable to work on a variety of projects, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, as well as troubleshooting any issues that may arise and be able to furnish and use small hand tools, various types of cutting equipment, forklifts, sky tracks, as well as develop electric repairs on pumps, compressors, conveying systems, piping systems, gear reducers, chain drives and other various pieces of stationary equipment.

The prospective candidate must also demonstrate a history of safety awareness, safe work practices, excellent attendance, a positive attitude, and the ability to work alone or in a team environment.


REQUIRED SKILL/ABILITIES:
  • Pre-employment mechanical skills testing is required.

Electrical Skills:
  • Able to read and understand electrical drawings, schematics, instruction manuals.
  • Able to understand technical specifications with respect to equipment installation and operation.
  • Understand electric circuits & wiring troubleshooting.
  • Know how to use tools to measure electric variables.
  • Ability to understand AC/DC Motors.
  • Ability to understand VFD.
  • Experience in heavy industrial environments is preferred.
  • Log equipment usage, parts replacement, and scheduled maintenance to ensure maximum functionality.
  • Ability to solve math, physics and calculation power and voltage problems.
  • Installing and troubleshooting AC/DC drives and controls.
  • Work in and out of the shop in all weather conditions and dusty environment.
  • Climb ladders and stairs, able to work on up to 6 stories level.
  • Work extended hours performing preventive & corrective repairs of assigned plant equipment.
  • After hours Call Out Schedule.
  • Requires the ability to stand for up to 8-16 hours per day, lift 50 to 80 pounds from the floor to waist height frequently and to push/pull 110 pounds for up to 50 feet consecutively.
  • Must be capable of climbing, kneeling, twisting, and bending in a varied environment.

MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensures safety is always an integral part of all job duties.
  • Observe Texas Lehigh Cement Company’s safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Response to emergency callouts and some overtime are requirements of the position.
  • Maintain all documentation, including blueprints, schematics, sketches, drawings, calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Conduct inspections and tests on electrical systems, utilize testing tools such as multi-meter and meg-ohmmeter. (Training will be provided)
  • Use of small hand tools required to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems such as motor controls, low and medium voltage power, transformers, lighting, and various safety devices.
  • Installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining sensors such as temperature sensors, pressure devices, mass weigh systems and all types of control systems and instrumentation.
  • Troubleshooting of PLC control circuits and I/O drops, communication systems for data and control systems are required.
  • Ability to work together with contractors.
  • Knowledge of different cement types and manufactured processes. (Training will be provided)
