Azure Administrator

About the opportunity:
Hybrid Pathways, a New Era company, is seeking a skilled and experienced cloud systems administrator to join our IT Network and Infrastructure team and help us manage our cloud computing environment. You will be responsible for installing, configuring, managing, and optimizing cloud system components such as servers, networks, storage, and software. You will also monitor and troubleshoot cloud system performance, security, and availability. To be successful in this role, you should have a strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS (Amazon Web Services) and Azure and cloud services such as IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS. You should also have experience with scripting languages, automation tools, and cloud migration strategies.

Key Responsibilities                                                     
Cloud Infrastructure Management:

• Research, design, deploy, and manage infrastructure on platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Implement and optimize cloud services, including virtual machines, storage accounts, virtual networks, databases, and other cloud resources.
• Troubleshooting and resolving cloud system issues and incidents.

System Administration:

• Perform regular system maintenance tasks, updates, patches, and backups.
• Monitor and document system performance, troubleshoot issues and implement solutions to ensure maximum uptime.
• Monitor resource utilization, analyze trends, and make recommendations for capacity planning and cost optimization.

Security and Compliance:

• Implement and maintain security measures to protect cloud systems.
• Work in collaboration with IT Information Security to ensure compliance with all policies and regulatory requirements related to cloud infrastructure.

Automation and Scripting:

• Develop and implement automation scripts to streamline repetitive tasks and improve system efficiency.

Collaboration:

• Proactively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, network engineers, service providers, and security professionals to support the overall IT infrastructure.
• Document and share knowledge about system configurations, procedures, best practices, and troubleshooting guides.
• Provide cloud computing training for other IT or College employees.

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, including the deployment and configuration of various services.
• Solid understanding of cloud computing concepts, virtualization, networking, and security principles.
• Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery strategies in AWS and Azure. Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for security and compliance in cloud platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to actively contribute to a positive team culture by mentoring others and readily sharing knowledge with colleagues.
• Experience working in Higher Education.

Preferred Skills

• Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator or Azure Fundamentals, or similar certifications.
• 3+ years' experience in cloud computing or administration.
• Knowledge of and experience in using cloud services such as IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and iPaaS.

Required Education

• Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or technology

Preferred Education

• Master’s Degree, CISSP certification, etc.
