School Overview

St. Louis Voices Academy of Media Arts is a new, innovative charter public school that will open in fall 2023 to serve students and families within the boundaries of St. Louis City. The school will start with kindergarten through first grade and add a grade each year, growing to kindergarten through fifth grade. St. Louis Voices Academy is a public charter school that leverages media arts and storytelling to equip students with the agency to excel academically, author their own futures, and make meaningful contributions in their communities. St. Louis Voices Academy is committed to media and storytelling, whole-child development, real-world inquiry, and progressive learner autonomy as design elements that allow the school to fulfill its mission.

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan, implement, and assess engaging and rigorous curriculum aligned with state standards and school goals.
  2. Assist in the creation of differentiated instruction strategies to meet the diverse needs of all students, including those with varying learning styles and abilities.
  3. Support classroom management practices that foster a positive and inclusive learning environment and promote respect, responsibility, and cooperation among students.
  4. Provide one-on-one and small group instruction to students who require additional academic support or enrichment opportunities.
  5. Participate in professional development activities, workshops, and collaborative meetings to enhance teaching skills and stay abreast of current educational trends and research.
  6. Contribute to the development of innovative teaching methods and resources, incorporating technology and experiential learning opportunities to enhance student engagement and achievement.
  7. Assist in the assessment and analysis of student progress and achievement data, using findings to inform instructional decisions and intervention strategies.
  8. Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues, maintaining open communication and actively seeking feedback to support continuous improvement.
  9. Actively participate in school-wide events, committees, and initiatives to promote a culture of collaboration, creativity, and excellence in teaching and learning.
  10. Embrace the mission, vision, and values of the charter school, demonstrating a commitment to equity, diversity, and social justice in education

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or higher in Elementary Education or other related fields of study
  • A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities (1-2 years of experience preferred)
  • A demonstrated commitment to supporting students’ social-emotional and academic development
  • A self-directed learner who solicits and implements feedback to improve outcomes and achieve objectives
  • Evidence of alignment with school’s mission: leveraging media and storytelling to equip students with the agency to excel academically, author their own futures, and make meaningful contributions to the communities
  • Evidence of alignment with St. Louis Voices Academy’s core values: community, commitment, courage, confidence, compassion, and celebration
  • Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and a deep understanding of drivers of the opportunity gap
  • Proactive, strategic problem-solver who is able to work successfully in a fast-paced environment, often while balancing competing priorities
  • Personal responsibility and commitment to continual professional growth

Performance is evaluated by the Director of Teaching and Learning in accordance with St. Louis Voices Academy’s human resources policy.
