Job Description

Summary

The Teacher is responsible for overseeing the operations within his/her designated classroom including the overall care of the children and the environment. The Teacher reports to the Supervisor within his/her department and the Director(s) of the center.

 

Qualifications

  • Teacher certified in their department.

  • You must have a high school diploma

  • You must complete a 3-credit course in Child, Growth and Development

  • You must have 9 months of supervised work experience

  • You must be first aid and CPR certified.

  • Knowledge of licensing regulations.

  • Must pass all background checks required.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintaining Licensing requirements at all times.

  • Creating and implementing curriculum activities aligned with the provided curriculum schedule.

  • Manage day-to-day activities of the school within their department.

  • Maintaining a safe, clean and developmentally appropriate environment for the children in his/her care.

  • Responsible for accurate/effective assessments.

  • Monitor students for progress and meet with parents for Parent-Teacher Conferences.

  • Maintain positive rapport with parents.

  • Monitor and maintain inventory within classroom. Ensure classrooms are stocked with supplies each evening/night (dependent on shift).

  • Meet with other administrators, parents, and community organizations.

  • Maintain brand standards for upkeep and cleanliness at all times.

  • Closers: Abide by closing procedures list to ensure closing procedures are completed. Perform incomplete closing duties, as needed, and/or delegate to Aides.

  • Provide the Director(s) with completed and accurate closing procedure lists for designated department.

  • Planning, supervising, and implementing the program for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the Center.

  • Gearing the programs to the needs of the individual children with concern for their interests, handicaps, special talents, individual style of learning.

  • Considering children in relationship to their cultural needs.

  • Responsible for the arrangement, appearance, and appearance, and learning environment of the classroom.

  • Assuming an equal share of housekeeping in the center

  • Attending all staff meetings.

  • Participating in all recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth.

  • Implementing methods of establishing a positive liaison with parents of students.

Other job requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk,

stand, sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger,

handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The

employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

 

The employee must frequently lift and/or move 20-25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or

move 35-50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision,

color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. May require travel to other locations and/or company events which may be outside and require exposure to extreme temperatures.

Cowlicks and Pigtails Child Care Center, Inc. has been in business for 20+ years and is still under the same owner/Director. Cowlicks and Pigtails takes pride in making each location feel like it is a small home daycare. We currently have 3 locations and are in the process of opening a 4th. There is room for growth within the company and we can't wait to meet you!
