SD Certified Flagger/Pilot Car Driver

Border States Paving is hiring SD Certified Flaggers and Pilot Car drivers.

Must Pass urine drug test.

MUST BE SD FLAGGER CERTIFIED. Job located in Winner SD area

$22.38 per hour. Approx start date is April 15-Oct

Mon-Sat approx 70 hours a week

Job Summary: Direct and control movement of vehicle and pedestrian traffic through construction work zone using sign, hand, and flag signals in a safe and effective manner. Communicate and interact with the pubic in a courteous and respectful manner. Take instruction from Foreman/Superintendent and assist with groundwork when required. The highest quality of workmanship is expected in assigned paving projects while working in a safe, productive and professional manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Discuss traffic routing plans, and type and location of control points with Foreman.

Manage day to day work zone setup, maintenance and tear down.

Lift, carry, and place traffic cones to ensure safety of the work zone. Assemble, lift, carry and place traffic control signs in the proper order to manage work zone traffic.

Direct and control movement of vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Inform drivers of detour routes through construction.

Interact with co-workers and the public in a courteous and respectful manner.

Record license numbers of traffic control violators for law enforcement.

Keep equipment in trucks well organized and in working order.

Follow company safety policies and procedures. Bring concerns to the attention of the Superintendent/Safety Committee.

Willingness to work in a team environment to assist co-workers and/or supervisors with training or other duties.
