Job Description

Critical Minerals International Inc. is a free cash flow focused miner founded to increase American supply chain security in critical minerals. The company has an ownership stake in seven mining assets in the USA and is developing mining opportunities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. CMI was founded in 2022 and is currently based in Denver, CO. We anticipate having three assets in production in 2024 on two continents.

Job Description:

 

Reporting to CFO (initially to the CEO), the Finance Manager will manage budgeting, forecasts, and financial planning processes, develop and present planning deliverables to senior leadership and other key stakeholders, and provide insightful analysis to drive strategic business decisions.

 

The Finance Manager will also oversee audits, financial reporting and building finance/accounting teams in our international projects (and joint ventures). The Finance Manager collaborate in the developing of the company’s ERP, risk management and reporting systems.


This role will provide accurate and timely information, compile, verify, and analyze financial information, and flag key economic indicators so that senior leadership has accurate and timely information for making strategic and operational decisions. The right Finance Manager candidate will take initiative, work independently for the most part with regular check-ins with the executive time and will recognize where and how to add value without a large amount of guidance. CMI will invest in the Finance Manager to become part of the executive leadership team. Our projects are unique, highly dynamic, interesting and very challenging – we are looking for someone who enjoys that and thrives under these circumstances.

The Day to Day:

 

Planning

  • Responsible for the development of processes, including incorporating technology and automated tools where applicable for the preparation of budgets, forecasts and strategic business plans
  • Responsible for ensuring that planning deliverables are meaningfully reflective of current business issues and reflect accurate financial statements aligned with actual financial reporting
  • Manage and consolidate budgets and forecasts from all projects
  • Develop and maintain financial forecasts, track changes in assumptions, reconcile changes over time and prepare reports
  • Develop detailed planning calendar and track adherence to key deliverables/milestones by all key stakeholders
  • Act as business partner providing exceptional customer service to project level teams and key corporate stakeholders
  • Support a variety of financial transactions (e.g., credit/lending agreements, etc.)

Reporting

  • Assist in producing corporate monthly management report which summarizes safety, operational and financial performance and variances against plans
  • Produce monthly corporate G&A report highlighting actual-to-budget variances and work with key corporate stakeholders on cost management efforts
  • Produce and present results of budgets, forecasts and life-of-mine plans to the Board of Directors and executive leadership
  • Manage the process for evaluating technology and automated tools for use in reporting processes to increase their efficiency of preparation and accuracy
  • Communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders, fostering a shared understanding of financial performance and implications

Analysis

  • Provide insightful analysis to business units and corporate stakeholders to drive strategic business decisions
  • Provide support in due diligence of new projects and/or new investments
  • Prepare economic and sales forecasts
  • Conduct analysis and interpretation of results to provide a basis for planning at the executive leadership level and operating controls
  • Prepare operational and financial information as required for investor/board presentations.
  • Provide analytical support to finance team on corporate finance initiatives
  • Provide analytical support to risk management team
  • Any other projects/duties that may arise from time to time as required

Leadership

  • Develop accounting team on all projects and at the holding company level
  • Set clear performance goals, provide regular feedback, and promote professional development for direct reports
  • Develop and collaborate with CEO on your own professional development plan within CMI


Is this you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and advanced Excel skills
  • Detail-oriented and strong analytical skills
  • High degree of professionalism with the ability to work on highly confidential matters
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial concepts to a diverse audience
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Effective time-management and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Mining industry knowledge and experience a must
  • Experience with different tax and legal jurisdictions a must
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and financial planning software a plus
