Job Description

The primary focus of this role is to initiate and complete customer parts orders and provide solutions to customers for any parts issues. A Parts Counter Associate will be the initial point of contact for all parts inquiries, while continuously communicating with customers and Gee Heavy Machinery team members to ensure the correct parts are consistently provided to our customers at the desired time. You will also become a member of Local union 3.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, maintain, and invoice parts orders for external and internal customers.
  • Initial point of contact for all parts inquiries (internal and external).
  • Work closely with warehouse associates and management to ensure customers receive the correct parts at the correct time.
  • Collaborate with other departments to guarantee the timely processing of parts orders.
  • Perform various warehouse duties, including picking orders, shipping/receiving, checking in emergency and stock orders, shelving and locating stocked parts.
  • Deliver parts to customers, field technicians and shop locations.
  • Carry out general housekeeping duties in the parts department and warehouse, minimizing the level of dust and dirt in those areas.
  • Collaborate with service operations to maintain accurate warranty parts hold inventory and ensure parts are returned to the manufacturer per requirements.
  • Collect customer deposits, obtain credit card information or work with the customer and the credit department to create a charge account.
  • Actively participate in the meeting of department goals, including customer loyalty, order pulling accuracy and cycle counting.
  • Contribute to accurate customer name and address information in customer relationship management (CRM) system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a changing work environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal customer service skills required.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team.
  • Skilled in using relevant software applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite and enterprise resource planning system (ERP).
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Certified in operating a forklift.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Experience in successfully dealing directly with the public.
  • Prior automotive and/or equipment parts experience desirable.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
