HVAC Engineer

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning of industrial process buildings.

JOB DUTIES:

• Confirm HVAC code requirements including but not limited to: ASHRAE, SMACNA, IMC, IBC, NFPA, etc.
• Confidence in both brownfield and greenfield project initiatives throughout all stages.
• Field investigations and travel as required.
• Produce building HVAC project design basis documentation.
• Produce building HVAC outline specification documentation.
• Perform heating, cooling, and ventilation load calculations.
• Perform system static pressure calculations.
• Perform room leak/pressurization calculations as required.
• Collaborate with equipment vendors.
• Produce HVAC equipment list, data sheets, and mark-ups of vendor submittals.
• Provide equipment utility requirements.
• Coordinate with other disciplines on roof loading, wall and floor penetrations, condensate lines, piping, clashes, etc.
• Lead HVAC design and scope walkthrough meetings with clients.
• Feel comfortable communicating with the client or client's representatives as needed.
• Comply with Company's Quality Control and Project Management procedures.
• Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization's goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in a Vestal Corporation office.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and able to operate a computer and other office equipment.
• Must be able to move about the office to access office equipment and other office buildings within the Vestal office complex.
• This position frequently communicates with others and must be able to exchange accurate information.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Architecture or similar is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience is required.
• Proficient user of Revit is required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction principles, practices, and technologies is required.
• Continuous learner.
• Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
• Some travel both domestic and international may be occasionally required.
• Must have valid passport or the ability to obtain.
• Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
