Urgent Surgery Associates, PA ("URSA") is looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Office Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The Medical Office Receptionist will provide administrative support in the context of a general surgery clinic setting. This position will play a crucial role in scheduling patient appointments and verification of the patient's health insurance.

This role is part-time (Tuesday & Thursday) 9am-4pm with work location being at Medical City Hospital Building C, 7777 Forest Ln, Dallas, TX, 75230

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Others may be assigned.

  • Greet and assist patients in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Express compassion, kindness and professionalism when greeting and assisting patients.
  • Answer telephone calls, respond to messages within the same day and monitor incoming faxes.
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments for pre/post-operative appointments.
  • Collect and verify patient information, including medical history and insurance details
  • Verify insurance coverage for office visits and surgical procedures
  • Collect co-pay, deductible, or other fees due at time of service.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and other office staff
  • Manage phone calls, emails, and other communications related to appointments or referral inquiries
  • Accurate and consistent data entry of patient information into patient records.
  • Handle administrative tasks, such as filing, data entry, and document shredding.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures to maintain a safe and compliant medical office environment


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Delivery of high-quality customer service and patient attentiveness with kindness during office visits
  • Strong listening skills and ability to show compassion for a diverse patient population and their families.
  • Knowledgeable of and maintains HIPAA standards of privacy and confidentiality. Ability to use discretion appropriately and maintain confidentiality.
  • Understanding of insurance benefit verification, pre-certification and referral requirements.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.

Education / Experience: Include minimum education, technical training, and/or experience preferred to perform the job.

Required:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid Texas Driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Proven experience in a medical office/facility setting.
  • Familiarity with insurance verification processes.

Preferred:
  • Associates degree or completion of a medical office assistant certification program.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and documentation requirements.

  • Specific vision requirements include the ability to see at close range, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, and use hands to operate a computer keyboard, telephone and patient documents.
  • Possess the ability to fulfill any office activities normally expected in an office setting, to include, but not limited to remaining seated for periods of time to perform computer-based work, participating in filing activity, light to moderate lifting 20-25 pounds and carrying office supplies (paper reams, mail, etc.)
  • Ability to uphold the stress of assisting patients of diverse backgrounds.

  • Position will be based in a healthcare facility and/or office environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
  • This is a smoke free workplace in compliance with federal guidelines.
  • Position will need to adhere to any immunization, vaccination, or other requirements in place at our client sites in accordance with their policies and procedures.


SCHEDULE: Office hours may vary depending on holidays, road conditions, and/or unscheduled office closures
  • Tuesday and Thursday 9am - 4pm

  • Local travel to care facility required.

PAY: $18-22/hr - Depending on Experience
