Position Summary:
Physical therapist aides work under the direct supervision of a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant. They usually are responsible for keeping the treatment area clean and organized, and preparing for each patient's therapy. Performs other diverse duties as requested or required.
Position Schedule:
Monday 7a.m.-12p.m., 1-6 p.m.
Thursday 7a.m.-12p.m., 1-6 p.m.
Friday 7a.m.-12p.m.
Position Responsibilities/Standards:
General
- Attend department, clinic or company meetings as required
- Demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns
- Consistently work in a positive and cooperative manner with fellow staff members.
- Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary.
- Attend required annual in-service programs.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all company policies and procedures including delegation of authority as outlined in the Ohio Administrative Code 4755-27-03: Delegation.
- Adheres to established facility safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Identifies potentially unsafe situations and notifies supervisor
Job Duties
- Must maintain a work schedule consistent with the needs of the facility.
- Prepares and retrieves equipment and modalities for patient treatments as requested by the physical therapist/ assistant.
- Performs laundry and housekeeping duties of the facility by routine and periodic cleaning; to maintain order and cleanliness throughout the facility. Performed according to the daily, weekly and monthly logs.
- Responsible for care of equipment, machines, supplies; safety of patients; prevention of unnecessary expense, waste, loss of time, and damage to equipment; order and cleanliness of the facility.
- Perform computer functions including scanning and indexing records, which includes patient discharges; scheduling and printing patient appointments.
- Clerical duties such as filing and chart preparation
Education/Experience Required:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have superficial knowledge of the reasons for patient care as administered in this facility.
- Some knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and neurology would be helpful but not necessary.
- This could be an entry level job. However, some experience in a hospital, PT department/facility, handling patients and equipment, housekeeping experience, nursing home or rehabilitation agency would be preferable.
- Must have sufficient physical strength, dexterity and stamina to handle patients and equipment and to do much walking, stooping, carrying, bending, etc.
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements for the position include the ability to frequently hear and communicate orally, see up close and at a distance, read and comprehend, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, and feel objects. Must be able to climb, pull, push, and kneel. Maximum unassisted lift = 50lbs. Average lift up to 25-50 lbs.
