Summary:
Are you passionate about maintaining safe and welcoming environments? As a Facilities Maintenance Specialist with the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our facilities. From routine maintenance tasks to vehicle upkeep, you'll contribute to creating a positive atmosphere for both animals and visitors alike.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Building Maintenance:
   • Undertake light carpentry tasks, such as patching drywall and repairing windows, to keep our facilities in top condition.
   • Refresh interior and exterior paintwork as needed.
   • Ensure proper lighting by replacing bulbs both indoors and outdoors.
   • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in animal welfare areas.
2. Grounds Maintenance:
   • Keep our outdoor spaces safe and attractive through tasks like snow removal, mowing, and plant care.
   • Conduct regular inspections to address any potential safety hazards.
   • Work with vendors if outsourcing is needed for grounds work.
3. Other Duties:
   • Pitch in wherever needed to support the smooth operation of our facilities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

1. Education and Experience:
   • A certificate from a college or technical school OR significant relevant experience.
   • Must be 18 years or older with a valid SD driver's license and insurable under our insurance carrier.
2. Skills and Abilities:
   • Proficient in light carpentry and the use of hand and yard tools.
   • Capable of working effectively in various environments and heights.
   • Strong problem-solving and multitasking skills.
   • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
   • A passion for animal welfare and promoting our mission to the public.
3. Physical Capabilities:
   • Comfortable with heavy lifting and physical exertion.
   • Able to perform a range of movements, including bending, kneeling, and climbing.
   • Strong visual acuity and adaptability to different environmental conditions.
4. Vendor Relations:
   • Develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors to ensure timely delivery of services.
   • Coordinate with vendors for repairs and maintenance work as needed, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.

Compensation: $22-25 DOE
