Dragline Maintenance Coordinator

Black Butte Coal Company, a surface coal mine located 37 miles east of Rock Springs, Wyoming has an opening for a Dragline Maintenance Planner.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Dragline Maintenance Coordinator will plan and schedule maintenance activities and provide support functions necessary to maintain two Bucyrus-Erie 1570 Draglines. Responsible for the scheduling, monitoring and coordination of repairs using a computerized maintenance management system.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for verifying, ordering and expediting required materials and supplies in conjunction with scheduled repairs, coordinating vendors, assisting with preparation of capital justifications and expense budgets
• Coordinate with production to develop and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule that allows for increased equipment availability
• Coordinate with superintendents to schedule personnel needed for repairs
• Develop clear and concise work plans that can be easily followed by dragline personnel
• Conduct pre and post activity meetings to ensure repairs are completed as planned and recommendations can be made for future jobs
• Plan and order parts for repairs to decrease downtime and maximize repair efficiency
• Estimate hours needed to complete repairs based on historical data and plan work accordingly
• Identify significant recurring equipment failure patterns by analyzing maintenance history
• Review and evaluate maintenance program statistics/costs and make recommendations regarding equipment replacement or upgrades
• Assist with troubleshooting process and equipment problems
• Performs weekly dragline equipment audits to include boom and mast inspections (working at heights)
• Sound understanding of MSHA, safety, and environmental regulations as they relate to the area of work
• Assists with annual budget planning for yearly outages

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Three to five years of practical experience in dragline maintenance planning preferred. BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

• Knowledge of Ellipse software preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Products
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals and prints
• Technical knowledge in maintenance field and an understanding of draglines

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Excellent planning and time management skills are required. Employee must have strong analytical and evaluative problem solving skills along with the ability to understand written procedures and instructions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are key components in this role. Must have strong written and verbal communication. Valid driver's license required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; climb, use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 35 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Will be required to work at extreme heights.

Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, steel toe boots, air masks, and ear protection must be worn in the performance of some duties.
