POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs basic ancillary skills to assist provider to meet the specific needs of patients. Must be willing to float to both Boone and Wilkesboro locations.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs the essential functions as defined as by the appropriate Skills Competency Checklist
  2. Adheres to established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards
  3. Observes and communicates changes in the patient’s condition to the provider on duty
  4. Adheres to guidelines and requirements of laboratory and clinical accreditation policies. Perform CLIA waived labs based on manufactures instructions
  5. Participates in education programs and attends meetings or training sessions as required
  6. Perform front desk responsibilities; answering phones, check-in, check-out, patient assistance with registration, insurance verification, including extensive EMR (Epic) training.
  7. Maintains clean and sanitized front and back office rooms
  8. Treats patients and co-workers consistent with the FastMed Mission statement, Vision, Values and Performance Standards
  9. Must adhere to protocol all protocols as ordered by Chief Medical Officer
  10. Set up procedures as trained when ordered by provider; Must abide by all HIPAA and OSHA guidelines
  11. Maintain high ethics and accept responsibility for actions
  12. Practice excellent patient care
  13. Maintain patient confidentiality, including shredding of any patient information
  14. Bring patients from the waiting room to an exam room in a timely manner
  15. Obtain and document all applicable patient visits
  16. Notify provider of patients ready for exam, room number, vitals and chief complaint.
  17. Maintain clear, appropriate and accurate documentation
  18. Participates in the completion of the daily checklist, as well as any assigned duties and tasks necessary to maintain compliance with Federal and State regulations, including documenting fridge temperatures daily on appropriate log
  19. Check all supplies and medications including sample medications for expiration, monthly
  20. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients
  21. Certified in DOT urine drug screening protocol
  22. Makes suggestions to management for improving the clinics performance and patient’s experience
  23. Triages patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts
  24. Other duties as assigned to promote high quality and cost effective patient care and an efficient and productive work environment


ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education:

    • Minimum of High school diploma/GED required with medical certification: EMT-B, CNA-1 or 2 without phlebotomy certification, medical technician, or passage of CPCT/A.
    • BLS American Red Cross certification required
    • Prior experience in a healthcare setting such as an emergency department, urgent care or other ambulatory care clinic is preferred
    • Basic Computer skills
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Ability to work in a team environment

Current FastMed UCT without certification: Must be in good standing to continue in current role. Also, COO & CMO must review recent skill assessment with provider sign off and most recent employee evaluation. If approved, must sign new job description and obtain a certification as noted above within six months. Note: FastMed will provide financial support for certification exam to current FastMed UCTs who are approved and have signed new job descriptions.
