Position: Tool and Equipment Repairer Salary: $18.44/hour

MWR Cape Cod Gear Department

DUTIES:

The purpose of this position is to maintain mechanical and electrical tools and equipment for customers. Collects required fees and accounts for all moneys received and prepares daily activity reports. Responsible for receiving, storing, identifying, and issuing the full range of available items used by shop personnel and patrons. Stores tools and equipment in established locations and assigns locations for new tools and equipment. Maintains all tools and equipment in accordance with safety regulations. Cleans and services tools applies routine lubrication. Reports damaged or inoperable tools to the supervisor.

Accountable for all tools and equipment assigned to the hobby shop area.

Responsible for small cash transactions pertaining to the operation of the hobby shop. Efficient cash handling procedure must be utilized in accordance with MWR instructions.

Assist patrons in the selections of tools and equipment for hobby shop projects. Demonstrates the use of machines and equipment to patrons in the hobby shop area.

Be knowledgeable of machinery assigned to MWR. Effect repairs on machinery if possible. Notify supervisor of all machinery malfunctions.

May control the check in and check out of some items of recreational equipment from the gear locker.

Other additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Minimum:

1. Must have knowledge of general clerical methods and techniques.

2. Must possess general knowledge of automotive parts and equipment related to the Automotive Hobby Shop.

3. Must have the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

4. Must have good customer service skills.

5. Must be able to select and set up storage locations for tools and equipment.

6. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift. Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance.

Preferred: (In addition to the minimum qualifications):

  1. Must possess general knowledge of automotive parts and equipment related to the Automotive Hobby Shop

  • Selectee will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer as the Standard method of payment for payroll and travel purposes.
  • Males born after 12/31/59 and at least 18 years of age must be registered with the Selective Service System, unless covered by an exemption under the Selective Service Law, in accordance with 5 U.S. Code 3378.
