Description

Science Museum Oklahoma is looking for a reliable and dedicated team member with strong work ethic to join our talented team. As a key ambassador for the Museum, you will play a crucial role in providing a superior customer service experience to all patrons while they visit the gift shop. This position requires point-of-sale operations in a cash-handling environment, strong customer service experience, and visual merchandising skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting guests in a professional and friendly manner, monitor traffic flow, and assist customers with information.
• Produce store sales by providing excellent customer service at point-of-purchase.
• Deliver accurate cash handling at the register till, give accurate change, and balance the register till accurately at the end of the day.
• Answer questions, respond to special requests, and describe product features.
• Maintain the physical appearance of the science shop by keeping areas clean and organized.
• Maintain store shelves by tidying shelves and providing optimum display of products.
• Process merchandise shipments and maintain stock levels on the sales floor.
• Proactively maintain a knowledge base of all museum programs, shows, memberships, and auxiliary services.
• Maintain a high degree of professionalism and appearance as a representative of the Science Museum of Oklahoma to the public.
• Provide demonstrations of products to guests as assigned by the supervisor.
• Assume other responsibilities and tasks as assigned by the Science Shop supervisor.

Requirements

CREDENTIALS/EXPERIENCE

• One (1) or more years of cash handling experience
• One (1) or more years of experience in a customer service position
• Must have flexible availability.
• Must be available to work weekdays, weekends, evening events and occasional holidays.

Additional Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to serve our guest with excellent customer service.
• Ability to work independently as well as in teams.
• Ability to work under pressure with flexibility.
• Excellent mathematical skills.
• Ability to operate computer equipment used in Science Shop.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to push, pull, lift, bend, stoop and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.

Salary Description

$14.00 Hourly
