We are seeking an industry-certified cycle or spin Instructor to join our team.
Applicants must have experience in a group training setting. No equipment is required, all is provided.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Instructs group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement. Works with the Health and Fitness Director and continually communicate all information pertaining to all necessary programs. This position will be expected to promote the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility in every activity associated with the YMCA. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes.
2. Maintaining the highest safety standards in every aspect of program operations.
3. Working closely with the Health and Fitness Director to ensure good communication and operations of all programs.
4. Adhering to all YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
5. Distributing all communication materials in coordination with the Health and Fitness Director.
6. Attending clinics, workshops and staff meetings as assigned by the Health and Fitness Director.
7. Maintaining accurate records for all programs.
8. Completes accident/incident reports for any occurrences while on duty.
9. Assisting in all special events relating to the YMCA.
10. Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
11. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
12. Assist in fitness workshops relating to the YMCA.
13. Maintains a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
14. Any other duties deemed necessary to ensure the success of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum age of 21.
2. Certifications: Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED, and First Aid.
3. Nationally credit fitness instructor certification.
4. 3-5 years of experience.
5. Completion of required trainings.
6. Specialty certification in areas of expertise.
7. Excellent communication skills.
8. A commitment to continuous quality program improvements.
9. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Ability to conduct classes and activities.
2. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
3. Able to lift and carry 15-50 lbs.
