Job Description
The collision technician performs high-quality repairs to collision damaged components and assemblies.

Essential Duties

The essential duties of this position are:

  • Disassemble and reassemble vehicle components and assemblies.
  • Remove, install and align welded-on and bolted-on parts.
  • Perform MIG and STRSW welding.
  • Perform steel sheet metal repairs.
  • Prepare all repair areas for refinishing procedures.
  • Protect adjacent panels and vehicles from additional damage.
  • Identify all secondary damage and communicate findings to allow for required approvals and invoicing of additional repairs.
  • Assist other technicians as needed.
  • Follow and comply with all standard operating procedures.
  • Meticulous disassembly and supplementing
  • Assist in developing or refining standard operating procedures as required.
  • Follow and comply with all required health and safety requirements.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Attend shop meetings as required.
  • Tools to perform meticulous repairs.
  • Aluminum Certification a plus
  • Produce 80 – 125+ body labor hours per week.
  • Assist with shop production by helping the General Manager prioritize work orders, understand the stage of the work of the RO or delays, take supplement pictures and ensure that the production team is focused on the corrected work orders to maximize production dollars every week.
 

Knowledge and Skills

The following knowledge and skills are required for this position:

  • Knowledgeable of vehicle construction methods and required repair procedures.
  • Skilled in using MIG and STRSW welding equipment.
  • Skilled in using a variety of repair materials.
  • Skilled in using a three-dimensional measuring system.
· Three to five years prior work experience preferred

Training and Certifications

The following are suggested education and training requirements for this position:

  • I-CAR Professional (preferred)
Working Conditions

The working conditions for this position include:

  • Work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
  • May be requested to work overtime.
  • May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces.
  • Will work on elevated surfaces on an occasional basis.
  • Noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
Physical Demands

This position has the following physical demands:

  • Ability to view computer monitor.
  • Oral communication
  • Ability to continuously stand or walk or for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds occasionally.
  • Able to manipulate small hand tools and equipment.
