Seismic Test Engineer

The Seismic Test Engineer is responsible for successful planning and implementation of testing and preparation of test certification documents.

Responsibilities not limited to:

• Prepare and execute test plans that satisfy the project scope and maximize profitability
• Collaborate on test fixture design
• Maximize efficiency of work at the test laboratory
• Assist laboratory staff with physical test set-up and instrumentation
• Operate data acquisition system
• Use sound engineering principles, independent discretion and judgment as a basis for technical work throughout the test
• Document test observations in compliance with the laboratory’s ISO 17025 quality system
• Perform post-test data processing, including data analysis and report writing
• Assist project manager with preparing certification documents for regulatory agencies
• Maintain communication with the project team throughout the scope work

• BS in Mechanical or Civil Engineering a plus
• Practical experience working on engineering projects as an “EIT” a plus
• Experience with following detailed equipment test procedures a plus
• Salary position may require unpaid overtime occasionally to complete projects
• 25% travel required

Physical Requirements

• Able to sit at and work on a computer in a standard office setting
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Able to reach/bend to retrieve equipment in cabinets and on shelves
• Able to bend, squat and climb stairs
• Visual acuity

Work Environment

• Includes work in a typical office environment as well as a laboratory setting
• Includes areas where chemical materials are encountered
• Will occasionally include a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions)
• The environment may include variable noise levels.
• May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and other safety equipment
• Will occasionally include climbing ladders and working off elevated surfaces
• May require the ability to travel by air or auto
